For Next Time : Creative Block

What were your thoughts about Creative Block?

What do you think we could do better if we run it again?

What did you like, what did you love, what did you find lacking?

Our first time round was a spectacular success, and if we decide to do it again we want to make sure it becomes bigger, better and more inspiring (so we need your help!).

  1. Loved everything about Creative Block, fantasic classes, great make and takes. Well done Print Blocks for organising such an amazing event, can’t wait for the next one. The only way to improve it is to maybe bring in Tim Holtz!

  2. Absolutely great job to all involved – the make and take was fantastic – please do run another one.

  3. I absolutely loved Creative Block and I thank everyone involved from the organisers to the Print Block Staff for an amazing experience.

The tutors were absolutely amazing and very generous with their time and their knowledge. The make and takes were exceptional and very generous.

The food supplied was awesome and plentiful.

The only negative comment I could make (and this is not a criticism) is that there were a couple of times I needed help in the warehouse and just couldn’t get it as the staff was so busy.

  4. Thank you so much Lynette for organising such a fantastic event. This was the shot in the arm that the industry needed.

The classes were well planned, the make and takes inspiring. A very big thank you to the wonderful, knowledgeable and generous volunteers!

Print Blocks staff were fantastic, so helpful.

Both myself and PB will be looking forward to the next event. But I am afraid that I agree with Natasha the only way to improve is to bring in Tim Holtz :)

  5. CB was awesome! I may not have got the classes that I wanted but the ones I attended were fabulous! It’s great to see how to use all the latest tools, see the new collections in person and I have to rave about the super specials PB put on. Thanks for that. I sure helped clean out the storeroom!
Please do another – will be there with bells on!

  6. Thanks so much – I thought the CB was just amazing. The classes and the variety was great – the class craft packs were so incredibly generous too.
All the Print Blocks staff were very helpful (esp those girls in the bag area!)
I loved the shopping in the warehouse too – and all the specials were an added treat.
Next year maybe just some extra people on the check-out/ invoicing section. I would have brought more stock but i couldn’t get it thru the check-out before i left.
Overall though – just wonderful. THANKS !!

  7. We had a fantastic time. Great classes, great ideas, great companies, great organization! We look forward to the next one.

  8. CB was fantastic, and I would love to go again for sure! well done to you all! The classes i got into were brillant and loved seeing and using all the new products!

    thankyou all

  9. No complaints here…only compliments.

All of the staff, demonstrators & volunteers were so accomodating.

The classes were mind blowing & of course the make & takes were second to none.

I think that the Australian scrapbooking industry has risen to a new level! You’ve set a precendent now & we will all be expecting to come again next year.

    Well done Print Blocks.

  10. Fab and well done to all involved. Nothing was too much trouble and not a negative smile from the exhausted staff. Loved the classes and make and takes. For the next one would love to have a few ‘think tank’ sessions;(maybe with 12 people in each session); maybe facilitated by a PB key member where participants could throw out good ideas, problems etc. within the industry – generate ideas and share ‘what works for me, or have you tried etc. Another thought would be more workshop style classes – we all know how to ‘do’ and the instructions were so awesome we could arrive and work through at our own pace, calling for help if needed. Please don’t take my comments as a negative.. the event was totally awesome, I loved it and would love to come again. Thank you Lynette, PB and all your represented suppliers.

  11. I just want to extend a “HUGE” Thank You to all the staff for such a wonderful experience. I came away from Creative Block with so much inspiration and excitement to pass onto my customers who are already benefiting! An absolutely awesome event that I know will be the biggest and best for years to come. “Congratulations PRINT BLOCKS”!!!!!
    Can’t wait for 2011!!!!

  12. Thank you seems such an inadequate word for such an amazing experience. We will definitely be there next time.
Can’t think of any improvement that could be made (except the kiwi dollar exchange rate!). We have come back to New Zealand totally inspired after the excellent make and takes. Andrew, you must be so proud of your team of employees and volunteers:
a big thank you to each and every one.
It is so easy to get bogged down with the day to day running of a business and an event like this certainly gets the creative juices flowing again.
Highlights for us: meeting the docrafts
and Graphic 45 teams, the friendliness of fellow retailers, the generosity of all the suppliers and the amazing organisation of the whole event.

  13. What a fantastic Creative Block. Lynette you were absolutely amazing to organise such a successful event. The Team at Print Blocks were awesome, efficient and helpful. Thanks Tanya you were wonderful. Great classes, make and takes and food. Really looking forward to next year, I will definately book for the 3 days next time, as I found I did not have enough time to do my shopping. I guess I will then start saving now for the shopping. Again Andrew and the Team thank you so much for such an enlightening and fun weekend. Also thanks to the suppliers who were so generous with their giveaways and their creativity. Cheers Gloria

  14. I would just like say a big thank you Lynette & all the Print Blocks Staff you are just amazing for organising a very successful eventit would have been a lot of hard work. The tutors were absolutey amazing & very generous to give up their time the make & Takes were exceptional. The only thing that would make next time great would be pricing as it was the first time that I had visited the warehouse & did not know prices & Steve did a amazing job to try & get around every one for prices but that would be the only thing to change so a VERY BIG THANK YOU VERY MUCH Vicki

  15. An amazing event. So appreciative of all the work by Print Blocks staff. Please do this again – I will be there. To make it even better . . . a choice of accomodation to cater for those of us on a tighter budget. Also, remember that people from W.A. and S.A. were booking flights during school holidays time – no cheap flights – and we had the furtherest to travel. LOVED all classes and make-and-takes and amazing shopping. Thank you.

  16. An excellent event and the vibe was wonderful to be a part of. Thank you for taking the time to organise and run this event.

My wish list for next time would include some business/sales training for the store owners (maybe on the Thursday evening if time permitted).

Once again thank you and I am looking forward to attending again in the future.

  17. Creative Block was fantastic. The volunteers and staff did a great job! The make and takes were great time fillers giving us a wider variety of new products to try, as sometimes you don’t want to do a whole class on something, just try it out. Specials in the warehouse were a good idea too. Perhaps opening the warehouse just until 6pm would have given store owners a little more time to shop. Maybe saying up front that stock will be shipped, free of charge, would help take the stress off the invoicers in the warehouse. All in all a great experience and the extra products given in each class, and at some make and takes, were wonderful (esp Sizzix)

A fabulous, fantastic and exhausting event. I wouldn’t have missed it for anything. A huge thank you to Lynette and the team, it takes a huge level of effort and commitment to step out and do such an event. Loved the make and takes and booths of all of the suppliers. Thanks to all the internationals who made the trip. I loved everything I participated in. Andrew, hats off a job well done. Nice to see your mum there and her pride in what you achieved.

I hope that was the first one and you will begin again next year …
I live far from Australia but I will come back .
    Thanks a lot SOPHIE

  20. I have the best time and I just want to extend a “HUGE” Thank You to you and all the staff for such a wonderful experience. Love everything about the whold weekend and cant wait for the next one.

  21. Firstly THANK YOU to EVERYONE at Print Blocks for making this such an awesome event. I am excited to see that you are keen to run it again, I’ll be there for sure.
The booth displays and make & takes were great, and the classes were absolutely fantastic. The food was great too.
Meeting and speaking with the international guests was very worthwhile too.
Next time I think there needs to be more SHOPPING time because we were all very much like kids in a candy store LOL.
An information session on business/retail/sales would also be valuable to many people too I think.
    THANK YOU AGAIN.

To Andrew, Lynette, the PB staff, Volunteers, you did a wonderful job for a first time event. I went up to Queensland unsure of how much ‘worth’ I would place on my time to be there. I really don’t know why!
As a reasonably new scrapbooking store I came away with a wealth of knoweledge to bring back to my small country town. The classes were superb and I don’t think it mattered that we didn’t finish many projects!
The food was lovely and there was always plenty of it.
I can’t wait for next year, but I agree with Natasha and LeAnne try to bring out Tim Holtz!!

  23. Creative Block was simply AWSOME AND FANTASTIC…. The Print Blocks staff were delightful and helpful as always despite working under some trying conditions regarding getting orders processed for people to take. The specials were HUGE and Tina and the rest of the staff went out of their way to help you find things etc. My only and BIGGEST WISH is that next year there be some classe or something for the CARDMAKERS among us. I have a growing home based business and run numerous classes but I specialise in card making only, with things like handmade boxes, purses, ornaments & other goodies etc as well – I don’t do any scrapbooking as that is not what my customers want and I would love to get new ideas with regards to the using the wonderful ranges of papers/cardstock/embellishments etc available and well as utilising the full range of equipment – eg Cricut, Cuttlebug, Gypsy etc, etc. I would love to see the cardmaking trends, handmade boxes & other goodies from other parts of the world and do some classes so I can take these new trends etc back and gain new inspiration for new & different classes.

  24. I thought Creative Block was great. The classes I did were interesting and varied. I loved the make and takes and having the opportunity to really talk to the different companies. Would definately attend again! so bring it on!

I would suggest tighter controls on communication prior to the event. ie: I didn’t receive the “what to bring” email at all, and had a class changed without being notified. Totally understand that these things happen, and it didn’t damper my spirit whatsoever, it is just a suggestion for next time.

    Looking forward to CB 2011!!

  25. Well done to you all for such an amazing event. Looking forward to 2011.
    Thank you so much.

  26. LOVED CB – the anticipation was certainly well worth the wait!
    Great meeting the international guests.
Loved the workshops and the make and takes I got to do. Missed out on a few of the make n takes due to my breaks coinciding with the breaks on each of those tables – not sure how you can get around that – maybe having someone “deputised” for their breaks – I know that takes away the chance to speak with the guest however in most cases the chat was about the make n take instructions. Small thought far outweighed by the impact of the 3 days.
    THANKS SO MUCH AGAIN!

  27. We loved the format of Creative Block and don’t really have any criticism. Instead we’d like to give higher praise for one of the classes:

Lynette Carroll’s class was full of information relating to running a store in this industry – we walked away with many new ideas to improve our business and a renewed passion for our industry. This was definately a highlight.
